Debora Baldwin's newly released "The Charm" is a memorable story about the special gift that
Hannah's grandmother has given to her during her birthday.
"The Charm": a remarkable story about the charm that Granma has given to the ten-
year-old Hannah and how it comforts her during hard times. "The Charm" is the creation
of published author, Debora Baldwin, a devoted follower of Jesus and a graduate of Ball
State University in fine arts who has a lifelong love affair with artistic expression through
words.
Debora shares the following from her book, "As I grew, I kept my promise to Granma. I
always wore the charm. Sometimes, when I was sleeping, I would awaken in the middle
of the night thinking I heard a quiet little song, and it seemed to me that it was coming
from the direction of the harp. I know it sounds silly, but whenever that happened, I
would be wrapped in peace and filled with love. It seemed the song would change with
what was happening in my life. When I was happy, the song matched my mood. When I
was anxious, like having to take a test, the song was soothing, reminding me that I was
loved and that I was never alone. It was my constant companion, and I would find
myself talking to it, telling it all my problems, my wants, and my wishes. As I did this, the
little harp would hum as if it knew exactly how I felt. It seemed to understand my moods
and share in my happy or sad times. I became so used to the songs and their soothing
presence; I barely thought about them, but they never stopped. When I looked at the
charm, I saw the love in the eyes of my Granma, and I remembered all the things we
would talk and laugh about."
